Message: Thank you for providing us with excellent information and training this past Saturday. All of us learned a great deal and enjoyed the hands-on exercises. Many of them were apprehensive at first, but they soon realized that they are capable of doing more than they thought they could. I'm so proud of them!

Message: Sophie posted this today; her thoughtful words sums it all up. ------------------------------- YAY WE DID IT!!! Yesterday we finally finished our Level 2 self-defense course and earned our certificates. As the "unofficial" most improved award winner I am so thankful for Coach Charles and Coach Mike and what they do for the women who take their classes.(Not to mention all the much needed cardio😂😅) I feel much more confident in myself and my abilities, and in looking forward to additional classes and volunteer opportunities with their gym in the future. Thank you, you really make a difference.

Message: Took the introductory self defense class a couple weekends ago and it was awesome! Charles was patient, accommodating, and understanding, even though I was running late. He was very thorough which made me leave feeling as though I learned so much in only two hours. Charles gave me the impression that he is truly passionate about equipping individuals on how to defend themselves if/when it ever becomes necessary. I look forward to attending the next class and to learning more advanced techniques.

Message: Love everything about this place! I just recently took the Self Defense Class, this is completely out of my comfort zone and I not only walked away feeling like I learned something it was a lot of fun. I also take my son here 3x a week for Taekwondo also, it took a while for us to find something he can be passionate about while being active. Master Charles is incredible patient and does an amazing job making each child feel included and impowerd.

Message: Changing the furniture in your mind" that is the phrase that Charles Gooden the owner of Victory Martial Arts and Fitness uses so you can debunk the myth about protecting yourself. Who says a small woman can't disarm someone twice as big? Keep in mind that skill combined with desire and opportunity are what allow many crimes or attempted crimes to happen. Being aware of your surroundings and anticipating potential dangerous situations and preparing for them are important in keeping yourself safe. Tonight's class spent time talking about your mindset. The latter half of the class was spent kicking, hitting, and elbowing a 250 pound Century kicker. We also learned how to use every day objects as protective devices. It was a total mind blowing and eye-opening experience. I am looking forward to attending the next level 2 class where we learn to perfect our moves. Very reasonably priced, free parking in a clean and bright atmosphere with a top notch, caring and skilled instructor. Thank you Charles we really enjoyed it!

Message: Had the pleasure of attending the basic level self-defense class last night (3/29/17). A friend recommended the class - so why not!  Saying it was fun doesn't quite explain the session, although it was fun - it was more about not becoming a statistic in today's criminal society. The subject matter was both discussion and active participation. The class was centered around giving you a momentary opportunity to escape from an attacker. It is NOT a course on how to fight an opponent. Basic subjects discussed were geared towards awareness, prevention, and escape. The instructor wasn't concerned about proper form or whether or not you joined his business, he was focused on each individual in the class, and tailored escape techniques based upon size, stance, and individual abilities. It is important that you wear comfortable clothing (same as any workout), as you will get plenty of opportunity to practice many key techniques. It was well worth the time and cost, to get refreshed on defensive escape techniques. I retired from the Army after 21 years, and I consider myself pretty aware and have some skills from that - but the truth is, I am not in my twenties anymore! You are never too old, and never too skilled to pass up an opportunity to get a refresher course on defending yourself. JUST DO IT!

Message: I had an entire email written out and then decided that it was over 500 words and that might freak you out. ;) Besides, I don't think that I can properly express how much you mean to me or to my family. As Mike said the other night, "you will miss him so much because he brought out the good in our family." He's right, you did. You took my very sensitive and emotional son and were kind, but firm and gave him something to look forward to. And me? Well, you'll never know. My favorite Sensei quote happened when you were teaching us to fall properly. "Take the energy, absorb it, and then use it to fuel you forward." It's been my mantra for months. Thank you so much for everything. The Roberts Family
